Minacom CEO Listed in TMC's Top 100 IP Communications Voices

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Senior Editor

Technology Marketing Corporation, publisher of Internet Telephony Magazine and TMCnet.com, this week released a list of the Top 100 Voices in IP Communications. The list is the centerpiece of the magazine’s 100thissue, also out this week.

Among the people on the list is Michel Nadeau, President and CEO of Minacom, a company that specializes in automated VoIP test solutions for telcos and cable MSOs.

“Communication is one of the most deep inner needs of mankind, in both fast growing and developing economies,” Nadeau said in a statement. “As the phone and the Internet brought us closer, VoIP is blending both together into our everyday lives, fostering a powerful revolution in new services we will quickly take for granted.”

He continued: “These services will be media rich, immediate, available and interactive. Today’s “mouse/keyboard-centric” web software will evolve into a wide range of voice-enabled, communication-based applications – adding the power of human natural interaction to all levels of business, community and leisure activities.

Nadeau further elaborated that, “In addition, IP communications enables true global communication as a cost-effective alternative to telephone monopolies, diminishing the impact of the digital-divide, and making phone service accessible worldwide to people starving to communicate.”

Minacom’s (News - Alert) CEO also acknowledged the potential issue of VoIP quality: “To those who fear VoIP quality may be an issue, as a test solution vendor I wish they were right! But as an engineer into the network fabric and VoIP/IPTV (News - Alert) technology development, I know that VoIP removes the limitations of narrow-band TDM telephony and will deliver quality far superior to what the PSTN will ever be able to. That superior quality will, once again, make us all feel much closer.”

Nadeau concluded by saying that, “In many ways, Voice is a killer app of broadband IP and will change the way the global community thinks, acts and lives.”
Michel Nadeau founded Minacom in 1996 after a career in engineering management at Teleglobe and two years of consulting as a telecom expert in network testing and management.

Nadeau is a member of Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation, International Telecommunications Union, Society of Cable Communications Engineers, and Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Telecom from École Polytechnique de Montréal. He was recognized by Commerce magazine as part of the “Top 40 under 40” list and was given the Young Engineer Achievement Award from the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers in 2000.

Launched in February 1998, Internet Telephony Magazine is the longest-running publication dedicated completely to coverage of IP communications.

“Our committee looked back over the course of the last decade, and came up with 100 people who we felt should be counted among the Top 100 Voices,” said Rich Tehrani, TMC president and group editor-in-chief.  “The common thread among all of the Top 100 Voices is that they played a part in the birth, growth and maturity of the IP Communications market.”

In addition to being profiled in the magazine, the “Top 100 Voices” will be honored at a special reception hosted by Rich Tehrani during Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO West (Oct. 10-13, 2006) in San Diego.
