Tektronix (News - Alert) Inc., a leading provider of test, measurement and monitoring instruments and solutions for the communications, computer, and semiconductor industry worldwide, recently announced that it would participate in the first HDMI Developers Conference to be held in Shenzhen, China on Sept. 12. The company will additionally act as a platinum sponsor for the event, showcasing its HDMI 1.3b Compliance Testing Solution.

Joining the company for the conference in China will be HDMI Licensing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Silicon Image (News - Alert), Inc., the agent behind licensing of High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) specification. Other participants include the China Video Industry Association (CVIA), who represents China’s leading manufacturers of digital televisions, digital movie/broadcasting, high-definition optical discs, set-top boxes, and information technology equipment and components.

Recently the consumer electronics industry has witnessed a sharp increase in the usage of HDMI as a standard connector for developing high-definition consumer electronics (CE) devices, such as, TVs, set-top boxes, DVD players, and A/V receivers. The purpose behind this Developers Conference is to share the nuances of integrating highly advanced HDMI functionalities within next-generation technologies with the current and upcoming CE and personal computer (PC) manufacturers.

A host of design engineers and product planners from premier CE and PC manufacturing companies based in China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan will attend this event to learn the technique of integrating HDMI 1.3 within their product suites.

Early this year, Tektronix was able to secure the Compliance Test Specification (CTS (News - Alert)) certification issued by HDMI Licensing, which certifies its instruments as HDMI standard compliant. The company is all set to release its second-generation test solution designed for integrated sink, source, and cable tests. Based on its high-performance hardware and software for HDMI v1.3 released in September last year, this Tektronix solution offering will remove bottlenecks involved in the HDMI testing and measurement procedure, thus creating a mechanized standard compliance test system that will accelerate the HDMI design validation process.
