Squire Technologies, a developer of telecom products has recently enhanced its latest software – the SVI Release 11. As a part of SVI Release 11, Squire has released a carrier grade Class 5 softswitch (SVI-C5) which has a built-in session border controller functionality.

Class 5 softswitches are currently one of the most secure and resilient switches available in markets and are mostly deployed in demand architectures.

The SVI Release 11 has enabled the availability of standard Class 5 features across the industry. Class 5 features include voicemail and voice announcements, select call acceptance/rejection, call forwarding among a host of others.

Explaining the reason behind the increased security Squire's Marketing Manager, Matt Watts said in a statement, "Our market research noted that Denial of Service attacks were an increasing concern for our customers, so it was a sensible move to provide the class 5 Softswitch with Session Border Control functionality built in."

Another feature that will benefit customers who go for SVI Release 11 is the way Class 5 Softswitch has been combined with the SVI-SDK, the Development Kit.

Joe Williamson, Squire's product manager explains why this feature is a defining one for the product - "One of the defining features of any Class 5 Softswitch are the services it provides. Our SDK enables the customer to rapidly create and deploy new services, which is something we've already seen, put to great use by customers working with residential services in particular."

The company has enabled customers to present portals by providing the capability to configure it all by themselves. The Class 5 Softswitch is administered through SVI-MS, which is Squire’s Management System. In addition to that, Squire has also developed a new self-care Web portal which allows the Class 5 users to configure services in a much safer environment.

Williamson added, "Class 5 services are all about configuration, and the feedback we've had about the portal has been unilaterally positive in that it allows for straightforward setup of all the services we offer, whilst also allowing our customers to present the portal under their own branding.”
