OTel Telecoms Unveils Sentinel SIP Monitoring Service for VoIP Switch Users

OTel Telecoms, a licensed telecom provider in Africa offering VoIP and broadband services to ISPs, WISPS, PBX (News - Alert), and IT companies at wholesale rates, has recently launched its Sentinel Global Service, a cloud-based SIP quality and fraud monitoring service for enterprises using VoIP switches.

Sentinel SIP Monitoring enables operators and enterprise VoIP engineers using these robust switches to troubleshoot and monitor VoIP quality, MOS, jitter and latency, and provides a central prevention database of known premium numbers and IPs involved in fraudulent VOIP activities worldwide.

By offering this affordable cloud-based service to enterprises and VoIP operators, OTel Telecoms aims to significantly increase its footprint. According to the company, a similar competing service was previously available only to major VoIP providers at an astronomical cost.

Sentinel SIP Monitoring was beta tested by various VoIP providers in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. During the test, the service proved it was stable enough to provide intuitive reports that will enable users to troubleshoot VoIP-related problems very quickly.

Thyson Makitla, head of Projects & Development at OTel Telecoms, said in a statement, “Conditions in this market, which boasts the fasted growing industry anywhere in the world, is a strong incentive for us to provide this cloud-based service to all providers and enterprises using Asterisk (News - Alert) or any VoIP softswitch.”

“VoIP fraud, over-contention on networks, and a maturing technology requires a good measurement, analysis and Network Operations Center (NOC (News - Alert)) tool,” Makitla added. “Sentinel offers all of this plus more, without the need to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into the competing service.”

Mohammad Patel, chief executive officer of OTel Telecoms concluded, “We’re excited to offer the SIP Sentinel service alongside our TVNO service to VoIP providers around the world."

According to Patel, scarcity of good tools makes the cloud Sentinel and VoIP call recording product a viable option, and the lack of skilled VoIP engineers makes the service highly attractive for ITSPs, whether on a tight budget or well established.
