RCA, a provider of technology for the entertainment industry, has recently expanded its footprint into the VoIP phone market with the launch of three new business phone models—the IP150, IP120, and IP110, designed to enable huge cost savings in businesses. These phones wouldn’t function properly without the use of a VoIP switch, an offering that delivers a complete network management solution for VoIP carriers on one platform.
"The VoIP business phone market is expanding rapidly and we've made investments to build new products for small businesses that allow us to capitalize on the IP telephony trend. These new phones deliver convenient calling features in a professional product designed to easily interface with Internet connections," said Dwight Sakuma, president of Telefield, in a statement.
The new line of phones are aimed at small to medium-sized firms such as law firms, doctor and insurance offices looking to upgrade their current systems and maintain an office with multiple telephone lines.
The RCA IP150 touchscreen IP telephone, the flagship product in the new VoIP lineup, is a desk telephone with extended features such as VIP ringtones, a do not disturb mode, a backlit keypad and visual ringer. It also includes Android (News - Alert)-powered Internet applications and services through the use of a built-in seven inch capacitive screen. The product from RCA also supports customer relationship management (CRM) applications such as Salesforce.com (News - Alert), airline information services, a weather information widget and streaming media content.
With the help of a software development kit (SDK) or using the application programming interface (API) layer, businesses can port productivity apps to the IP150. Programs such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook and Google Contacts are also compatible with the RCA IP150, making it easy to import contacts and go to work right away with an RCA VoIP desk phone.
Additionally, the RCA IP110 and IP120 are two desk phone offerings that will access most hosted service features from popular softswitch systems by BroadSoft (News - Alert), Metaswitch and Digium. Both of these phones feature HD voice, a full-duplex speakerphone with volume control, as well as customizable ringtones.
