VoIP Switch - Metaswitch Networks Delivers VoIP Switch Solution to Rural Telecom Provider

June 27, 2012

Metaswitch Networks, a provider of telecom infrastructure solution, recently revealed that Farmside, a subsidiary of Bay City Communications and rural telecom provider in New Zealand, has selected its VoIP switch solution.

The new solution provides customers with enhanced communication applications on both IP and TDM connections.

Under this agreement, Metaswitch will power its MetaView network management platform that simplifies service provider functions with sophisticated provisioning, monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities. The rural telco has also selected Metaswitch’s high performance Perimeta session border controller.

"The increasing demand from our customers for speedier and more sophisticated communications meant it was important for us to have an intelligent network service architecture in place,” said Ron Goodfellow, chief operating officer at Farmside, in a statement.

“With their proven expertise and leadership in delivering Class 5 migration solutions, Metaswitch was an obvious choice for us,” Goodfellow added. “The company's logical approach to integrating both legacy and IP communications gives Farmside a platform that not only allows us to migrate customers sensibly, but also provides significant cost savings, advanced applications and scalability for the future."

“Farmside not only adds to Metaswitch's continued growth in the APAC region, they reflect our shared company values – delivering the latest in innovative communications applications to customers that are keen to leverage the user-experience and commercial benefits of advanced technology," Dave Ashby, vice president at Metaswitch commented.

In another significant development in the VoIP switch industry, GENBAND (News - Alert), a provider of IP infrastructure solutions, has been selected by Global IP Tandem for its Interconnect Solution. This offering will give the company access to a robust VoIP switch solution that enables seamless routing of VoIP originated traffic between Global IP Tandem's member companies.

At the core of GENBAND's Interconnect Solution are the G9 Converged Gateway (News - Alert) and C3 Gateway Controllers that power switching and media processing support in all wireless and wireline, access and core, IP and TDM environments.
