GENBAND (News - Alert), a provider of IP infrastructure solutions, recently revealed that Global IP Tandem has selected its Interconnect Solution to deliver a groundbreaking approach to VoIP switching to enable seamless routing of VoIP originated traffic between Global IP Tandem's member companies.
The service is available to VoIP providers, wholesalers, cable providers, ILECs, CLECs, and other ISP/ESP companies in the U.S and Canada and interconnects service provider networks as well as offers innovative routing capabilities that allow for flat rate functionality.
"The flexibility and scalability of the integrated interconnect solution made GENBAND the clear choice to support our revolutionary offering that switches VoIP originated calls between providers with no interconnection to the PSTN," said Steve White, chief operating officer at Global IP Tandem, in a statement.
At the core of GENBAND's Interconnect Solution are the G9 Converged Gateway (News - Alert) and C3 Gateway Controller that provide switching and media processing support in all wireless and wireline, access and core, IP and TDM environments.
The solution brings a highly scalable, multi-application IP session routing engine and media gateway control platform that provides protocol and signaling translation and control for successful interconnectivity.
"GENBAND is very pleased to support Global IP Tandem in offering all VoIP providers in the U.S. and Canada an interconnect solution that operates independent of the PSTN, thereby eliminating the complicated structure of tariffs, specialized collocation and integration costs," added Mark Pugerude (News - Alert), president, Global Sales and Marketing, GENBAND.
"Global IP Tandem's powerful switching process utilizes advanced technology to deliver high-quality, Point-to-Point connections, and we are thrilled to be a part of their efforts to level the playing field for service providers across North America," Pugerude added.
In related company news, TMCnet reported that GENBAND has begun helping the Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN) migrate their TDM and first generation VoIP switches to GENBAND’s IP-based platform as part of a network modernization plan.
