TELES, a provider of complete Class 4 and Class 5 softswitch solutions, VoIP gateways and mobile gateways for GSM, CDMA and UMTS networks, has been selected as a Technology Partner in the Avaya (News - Alert) DevConnect Program.

The Avaya DevConnect Program supports enterprises developing products that are interoperable with Avaya communications solutions. Being a member of Avaya DevConnect Program, TELES will get comprehensive support to develop and market its TELES Access Gateways that are compliance tested for compatibility with Avaya solutions.

TELES Access Gateways, which has been tested proven by Avaya for customer satisfaction, product support, business operations, marketing and sales, complements the Avaya portfolio. It delivers solutions for least cost routing, last mile connections using mobile networks, and fallback solutions, company officials said.

"Technology partners like TELES help our customers leverage their investment in communications infrastructure by integrating functions that complement their existing communication solutions," said Eric Rossman (News - Alert), vice president, Developer Relations, Avaya, in a statement. "This gives customers more flexibility and increases the reliability of their network.”

“Using TELES Access Gateway (News - Alert) solutions, enterprises can, for example, integrate their employees' cellular phones into the Avaya FMC (Fixed-to-Mobile Convergence (News - Alert)) and UC (Unified Communications) solutions to lower interconnection costs,” Rossman added.

TELES Access Gateways help reduce connectivity costs between fixed and mobile networks, and allow low cost dial-in from cell phones into enterprise communication solutions. This will result in provisioning of enhanced communication functions on cellular phones without incurring additional costs.

Further, TELES Access Gateways enable backup solutions over the mobile network in case of failure in the fixed network. Customers can also integrate SMS-based communications into the existing infrastructure. The TELES Access Gateways offer between four and 32 cellular channels, up to 30 VoIP channels and several E1/T1 interfaces depending on the model, the company said in a press release. "Avaya provides TELES with extended technical support, compliance testing and marketing initiatives", said Oliver Olbrich, chief operating officer of TELES, in a statement. "This will help us ensure the compatibility of our products with Avaya's solutions and address our joint customers in an optimal way."
