Within the last year, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions have been implemented at an unprecedented rate at multiple types of organizations since they offer various benefits including increased scalability, ramped up project completion and dramatically reduced costs.
A recent piece shed some light on how Andy Abramson (News - Alert), author of blog site VoIPWatch, thinks that the technology can help a business get up and running quicker than ever before. Abramson said that when leveraging VoIP solutions, both telecom and IT managers can focus their efforts on the business rather than on making sure communication channels are working efficiently.
Abramson stated that VoIP solutions can provide much better quality than traditional phone systems."You're also seeing VoIP uptake by customers of cable companies and those who chose to get their residential internet from providers other than the incumbent local phone company," he said in a statement.
In addition, VoIP solutions can also help to increase productivity levels as networks are now much more reliable.
Teo is a leading provider of VoIP solutions who recently published a survey focused upon unified communications (UC) and its expansion within business operations. Over 500 professionals played a part in this survey, mainly those who held positions in middle management and senior management level positions in 13 diverse industries, in order to give an overall look at what they know about unified communications in general including the functionalities and benefits available from these advanced capabilities.
Some of the other conclusions from the survey are that 37 percent of respondents said they are not satisfied with the current technology available to work remotely; 25 percent of respondents spend more than half their time working outside of the office, showing little flexibility offered by employers to provide telecommuting options; the majority of respondents (75 percent) spend more than half their time at their desks, explaining it is hard to maintain efficiency levels when working remotely; and after being presented with a definition of a UC system; and 64 percent of respondents thought the idea of using UC to more work outside the office and still remain highly efficient as an “appealing idea.”
In addition, 68 percent of respondents commented they were unsure if their organization was even using UC. This point shows how crucial it is to express the wide range of benefits that UC can offer any organization to all employees.
