Telcoinabox, an Australian wholesaler and franchisor for telecommunication products, announced that it has signed a reseller deal with Engin, a provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, to supply SIP trunks, consumer VoIP services and a hosted PBX (News - Alert) solution to enterprises.
As part of the deal, the white-label products from Engin will be available to all of Telcoinabox’s 110 service providers nationally by April 2011.
“While VoIP and hosted PBX technology is not new, adoption to date has been strongest among residential and enterprise markets and slow among SMEs, which is our service providers’ major market,” said Paul Line, CEO of Telcoinabox, in a statement.
Telcoinabox selected Engin for its platform, clear development upgrade path, full B2B connectivity for provisioning and service management and flexibility to white-label. The selection was done after an extensive review of potential wholesale vendors.
Both the companies are in the initial process of identifying more opportunities to join hands, including joint venture arrangements. Services will initially be delivered over Telcoinabox’s existing ADSL2+ and SHDSL network and will migrate to the national broadband network as and when available.
The platform for the VoIP products is provided by Broadsoft and hardware and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) will be provided by Cisco, Netcomm and Polycom (News - Alert).
Earlier this month an Australian daily reported that Seven Group Holdings is going ahead with their plan to buy out the minority shareholders in Engin, despite the resistance of one shareholder, according to Business Spectator.
