IMAKE Software Inc. has introduced the OpenVision 4.1 Session Resource Manager, offering open session resource management solutions for VOD and IPTV (News - Alert). The solution simplifies and supports deployment of multiple emerging services like broadcast, VOD, targeted advertising, games and broadband service. It is designed for deployment by Tier One, global satellite and telecommunications companies.
The latest release of the solution is based on an open systems design, enabling operators to open up their networks and choose the most appropriate video servers, application servers and set-top box technologies. OpenVision SRM supports the DSM-CC, RSVP and RTSP protocols and will feature future support for SIP. It integrates with Cisco network equipment as well as Broadbus video servers, DigiSoft.tv clients, Alticast clients and a number of additional video servers and set-top box clients.
The solution optimizes the use of bandwidth while maintaining minimum levels of QoS. It dynamically allocates service-to-network capacity and validates available network bandwidth allowed for subscribers to improve network utilization of digital services. It also offers real-time network monitoring and management of client bandwidth on a per-session basis, from session start to session tear-down. Additional features include the ability to take a video server offline for maintenance.
“OpenVision SRM sets a standard for IPTV, DTH, and digital cable for open solutions with multiple next generation video and audio service providers around the world deploying OpenVision’s SRM,” said Mark Schaszberger, IMAKE chairman and CEO. “This is one step in the right direction in opening up proprietary video solutions and IMAKE is there to deliver on it.”
