By Marisa Torrieri, TMCnet Editor

Swiss VoIP service provider Sipcall announced it is offering the Siemens (News - Alert) Gigaset A580 IP telephone for CHF 89 to its customers as summer promotion.

Company officials describe the VoIP-Dect phone as “ideal” for residential users and small businesses enabling two VoIP calls and one PSTN/ISDN call taking place at the same time.

What’s more, the Gigaset A580 IP includes a voucher of CHF 25 sipcall VoIP call credit and the promotion runs until 30 August.

Speaking of VoIP phones, snom, a maker of VoIP phones, recently announced the launch of Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications or "DECT (News - Alert)” VoIP phone: the snom m9.

The new snom m9, according to company officials, is the world's first cordless VoIP phone that can be integrated with the snom OCS edition in a Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Communications Server 2007 R2 environment.

snom m9 can work in a range of 50 meters within any building and up to 300 meters outside depending on the construction and infrastructure of the building. A single base supports the operation of up to nine handsets and supports up to four simultaneous conversations.

According to Nelly Monkhouse, UK sales manager for snom, the snom m9 includes all the high-quality features and security standards, with the added flexibility and convenience provided by cordless telephony. It’s unified communications features such as status display of contacts, simultaneous signaling of incoming calls on the desktop and the phone and the snom Active Directory Search by name or phone number in the Office Communications Server.

Offering optimal voice quality and up to 100 hours of stand-by time, snom m9 also includes features such as three-way conferencing, speakerphone and caller identification of phone numbers and images.

snom m9 also includes features that users have come to expect from their mobile phones such as calendar, alarm, polyphonic ringtones and individual background images. It also features an integrated USB port to allow easy integration of Web applications, and supports the highest security standards with a pre-installed X.509 certificate and support for TLS and SRTP.
