Allworx Donates VoIP Phone System Equipment to Rochester Institute of Technology

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

VoIP phone systems manufacturer Allworx specializes in solutions for small to medium sized businesses (SMBs). But that’s not all the company focuses on. An announcement out Monday demonstrates that Allworx is devoted to making state-of-the-art communications equipment more widely available—not just in the business sector, but for educational institutions as well.

The company donated several of its 10x VoIP phone systems, and 9112 VoIP phones to go with them, to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in Rochester, New York. The equipment will be used at RIT’s communications learning lab.

Sandra Gault, executive president of marketing at Allworx, said that the flexibility and cost-savings which go hand-in-hand with the company’s VoIP Phone Systems are useful not just for SMBs but educational institutions like RIT as well.

“Education plays a vital role in our community relations efforts, as many of our engineers and executives owe a lot to the education they’ve received, and to the experiences they’ve garnered from RIT - so we’re thrilled to donate our industry-leading communications technology,” Gault said in a statement.

Mark Indelicato, an associate professor at RIT, expressed a similarly positive sentiments about the donation.

“Market leading companies like Allworx who value research, technology and science education play a significant role in helping students understand what today's state-of-the-art technology is all about, and they also make it easier to see where tomorrow's technology-advances are heading,” Indelicato said in a statement.

Allworx’s 10x is a multi-faceted VoIP phone system designed for SMBs, with a robust feature set at its price-point and easy installation. The company’s 9112 VoIP phones include advanced features such as echo canceling and superior voice quality.
