Allworx Telephony Solutions Help SMBs Succeed

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

For small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), the right phone system can mean the difference between success and failure. But limited budgets sometimes mean that the telephony features SMBs need are out of their reach.

One company that is addressing those needs is Fairpoint, NY-based Allworx (a subsidiary of InSciTek Microsystems, Inc.).

Allworx offers a full line of telephony products designed to help SMBs set up feature-rich phone systems and PBXs to serve the needs of their customers. In three case studies summarized below, Allworx clients explain how the company’s products helped them succeed.

Alpha Real Estate

Alpha Real Estate is a full-service real estate agency based in Emeryville, CA (News - Alert). The company operates out of one location, with 16 independent contractors. Alpha needed a communications system that would provide the appearance of cohesiveness to its group of agents—a system that offered integrated components and state-of-the-art technology.

Thos needs were met with Allwox’s solutions.

The real estate agency chose Allworx’s 10x system, along with the company’s digital and analog phones. Together these products provide for Alpha’s current and future needs.

“Our agents are all over the area; Allworx brings them all together and gives us the appearance of being a cohesive group,” said Alpha Real Estate owner Daniel Coffman, in Allworx’s case study.

Glass Fab

In 1987, Glass Fab (a Rochester, NY-based company that specializes in fabricated parts made of optical glass) bought a phone system from Executone. That system served the company well for many years, but recently owner Dan Saltzman decided it was time to go twenty-first century by upgrading to a system that would provide voicemail and other modern features.

Specifically, the company needed individual voicemail so customers could leave messages for the appropriate person, freeing up employees who previously had spent time taking and delivering messages.

Glass Fab chose Allworx’s 10x system and digital phones. The new system provides full-feature voicemail, custom call routing, auto attendants, specialized ring, and a file server.

“How would I describe Allworx? Phone system, email server, web server,
file server, dessert topping—Allworx is a small business dream come true!” said Saltzman in Allworx’s case study.

Saltzman noted that his employees learned the new system quickly, making it an immediate good investment.

“Allworx frees people up to do what we really need them to do,” Saltzman said.

He added: “Allworx has helped us improve our business because callers can
leave now voicemail messages in greater detail with no extra effort.”

WorldWebDex Publishing

While a student at Georgetown University in 2000, Kelly Fermoyle founded WorldWebDex Publishing, a company that offers advertising sales, design, and project management services, as well as software for producing profitable print or online directories.

Four years after the company was founded, it moved from an incubator space to its own offices, and needed a new communications system that would provide not only telephony but computer and other technical office infrastructure as well. The goal was to improve communications between the main office, field reps, and customers.

Making this order a hard one to serve up was the fact that WorldWebDex had no IT staff.

The company found what it was looking for in Allworx’s 10x system and VoIP phones, which provided an all-in-one solution with that was easy to administer and allowed room for future growth.

“It’s actually easier to add people to the Allworx system than it is to add them to our payroll system,” Fermoyle said in Allworx’s case study.

She added: “We’re a small company… but the Allworx system allows us to be
very responsive and very attentive. It allows us to cast a large
shadow.”
