Unified Communication (UC) security outfit Sipera Systems is now employing the Empirix (News - Alert) Hammer Voice-over-IP (VoIP) testing solution in a bid to develop increased capabilities for its VoIP and UC security solutions.
The Bedford, Massachusetts-based Empirix specializes in helping organizations adopt complex communications solutions, assessment and development; focused testing during roll-out; and on-going contact center testing and monitoring as part of its technology lifecycle.
Since 1992, Empirix’s Hammer testing and monitoring solutions have helped Network Equipment Manufacturers (NEMs), Service Providers and Enterprise Contact Centers successfully transition to new technologies including Unified Communications (News - Alert) IP Contact Centers, VoIP, NGN, and IMS-based networks.
Now, with the Hammer solution Sipera (News - Alert) plans to enable engineers to discover, prioritize and correct potential issues during the pre-deployment phase, reduce the cost of bringing its products to market and ensure that its UC-Sec security appliances can simplify and protect VoIP and UC implementations with comprehensive security.
Vidyaranya Maddi, director of security assurance at Sipera, said Empirix’s willingness to listen to his company’s requirements and to permit them to work closely with its engineering, delivering on Sipera’s unique testing needs was a focal point in the selection the Hammer Edge product.
“Empirix is the only industry standard UC traffic generator supporting a wide range of signaling protocols in multiple transports, including UDP (News - Alert), TCP and TLS, providing seamless scalability and longevity tests and automating the testing process,” said Maddi.
The new Hammer Edge is also geared for the same market and is designed to ensure the quality and performance of products and services, while reducing time to market, increasing service revenues and improving test productivity, according to the company.
“Empirix goes the extra mile by listening to its customers and finding the right solution to solve their problems,” said Maddi.
Maddi says Sipera’s development and testing team will now rely on Hammer’s media support, security test functionality, high load handling capabilities and ability to provide detailed QoS metrics. Hammer also provides broad signaling and security protocol test coverage (including SIP, SCCP, TLS and SRTP).
Hammer testing solutions emulate the realistic behavior of users and devices interacting with voice-centric applications. It makes calls, verifies features, measures voice quality and determines performance, as well as proving system and multi-vendor interoperability for VoIP, NGN and IMS architectures.
The Texas-based Sipera recently partnered with TMC to bring UC Security Workshop to ITEXPO (News - Alert) West in Los Angeles. Sipera will host a Free one-day workshop for all ITEXPO attendees entitled, “Project UC, Protect UC: Deploying Low-risk, Secure VoIP &Unified Communications Solutions.
