Empirix (News - Alert) , a leading provider of voice application testing and monitoring solutions, has tapped Test & Measurement Executive John D'Anna as its new CEO.
The Bedford, Massachusetts-based Empirix specializes in helping organizations adopt complex communications solutions. Since 1992, Empirix’s Hammer testing and monitoring solutions have helped Network Equipment Manufacturers (NEMs), Service Providers and Enterprise Contact Centers successfully transition to new technologies including Unified Communications (News - Alert) IP Contact Centers, VoIP, NGN, and IMS-based networks.
D'Anna comes to Empirix from JDSU's (News - Alert) Test & Measurement Product Group, where he was served as senior vice president of global sales and services. D'Anna, who has 25 years of industry experience, is expected to bring the expertise Empirix needs to remain competitive in a crowded but growing market.
"John has a unique combination of skills -- deep technology experience, coupled with business and finance knowledge -- which we think makes him the perfect choice to lead Empirix through our next phase of growth," said Greg Ferguson, chairman of the Board at Empirix.
Ferguson, who served as interim CEO and managed the sale of its Web business and alignment of the company's voice business strategy, will now continue his role as Empirix's Chairman.
Under D'Anna's leadership, JDSU's Communications Test & Measurement sales organization built strategic relationships with some of the world's largest communications service providers and equipment manufacturers, according to Ferguson. In addition, D'Anna also led the company's global services group, a multinational organization focused on delivering services in support of JDSU's Systems & Software solutions for deployment and maintenance, product support services, consulting and educational services.
"Empirix is at a great place in its development -- a solid, successful reputation in the marketplace with a very strong Hammer brand, satisfied customers, and a leader in voice test and monitoring solutions," said D'Anna. "I'm excited to be joining the company at such a promising time and look forward to growing the company and helping to ensure the success of its customers as they transition to new technologies."
D'Anna has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Masters in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is also a member of the advisory board for the Newark College of Engineering and the Engineering College of the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
