Cantata Converged Services Deployed in Telefonica Global Net

By Spencer D. Chin, TMCnet Web Editor

Communications hardware and software solutions provider Cantata Technology has announced that in conjunction with European distribution partner Datatronics, more than 25 Excel CSP (News - Alert) 2090 converged services platforms have been deployed in Telefónica’s extensive worldwide network. The CSP 2090’s open programmable architecture was selected by Telefonica to expedite time-to-market, reduce costs, and increase revenue with enhanced services, while preserving investment in existing network infrastructure.

Spain-based Telefónica, one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies, is utilizing the feature-rich CSP 2090 platform as the primary voice resource for several of its network’s enhanced, revenue-generating services, including its popular ring back tone service that boasts almost two million subscribers. Other Cantata-powered services include prepaid IVR, conferencing, customer care, and calling cards.

Cantata’s Excel CSP 2090 is a carrier-grade converged services platform that bridges existing TDM networks with next-generation IP networks, by integrating protocols for IP (SIP and H.323), TDM (SS7, PRI, and R2), mobility and IN. The Excel CSP 2090 is ideally suited for carrier-class enhanced services ranging from unified messaging to conferencing, pre-paid, IVR and many more.

“Cantata and Datatronics continue to benefit from a long-standing, productive partnership,” said Oscar Gonzalez, director, sales and business development, Datatronics, in a statement. “Cantata’s superior enabling communications product portfolio, combined with Datatronics’ local support, systems integration, and maintenance operations, represents an ideal solution for European service providers transitioning to all-VoIP environments.”

“Excel’s CSP 2090 perfectly meets the demanding enabling infrastructure needs Telefónica required to fulfill its value-added service strategy,” said Timothy L. Murray, chief executive of Cantata Technology (News - Alert), in a statement. “Today’s announcement is testimony to the value that Cantata and its partners offer service providers by bridging now generation networks with next generation networks to significantly enhance bottom-line revenue.”

“We are very pleased with the features and stability of Cantata’s Excel CSP 2090 platform since we began initial deployments of the technology two years ago,” said Francisco Javier Melero, manager of CRM platforms, Telefónica. “We have experienced a significant improvement in the availability of our system, and are impressed with the high level of quality service and support provided by Datatronics and Cantata.”

One of Cantata’s European distributors, Datatronics is a leading supplier of end-to-end solutions for the fixed and wireless market, leveraging more than 10 years of experience in telecom networks and telecom services. Acting as a VAR of leading companies and a solution provider, Datatronics provides technologies and solutions for signaling, messaging, NGN & VoIP, roaming Solutions, fixed mobile convergence (FMC) and mobile video service.
