Shopnetworks Distributes Sangoma Product Line in Brazilian Telecom Market, Sangoma Announces Grant of Stock Options

Shopnetworks in conjunction with Sangoma Technologies Corporation announced their distribution agreement for the Brazilian market. Sangoma also announced the company’s stock options.
Shopnetworks, officials say, will increase the number of resellers, system integrators, and solution providers with access to Sangoma telecom products in Brazil. Shopnetworks will manage Sangoma's newest line of voice cards, SIP gateways, SS7 software and call progress analysis software in their portfolio, Shopnetworks plans to target PBX (News - Alert) resellers, contact center and carrier system integrators.
"Sangoma brings unique value to resellers, integrators, and solution partners in Brazil, with its strong support of local network technologies as well as outstanding price/performance points," said Flavio Eduardo de Andrade, General Manager of Shopnetworks.
The new NetBorder Express VoIP Gateway (News - Alert) Cards line from Sangoma aim is to help companies work interchangeably between networks without having to purchase unnecessary hardware or software.
Sangoma’s efforts of improving connectivity is noticed by Shopnetworks, " Sangoma's focus is on building great connectivity hardware and software products, not in creating applications that compete with our solution partners, like others in the industry," added de Andrade.
Company officials say that Sangoma has “unmatched support capabilities for relevant telephony protocols in Brazil, Protocol stacks enable applications to interface with a local network or telephony equipment, and these protocols vary from country to country.”
Sangoma was the key sponsor for the development OpenR2, an open source MFC/R2 protocol stack now used within the Asterisk (News - Alert) open source telephony platform.
"Brazil is a key market for Sangoma's telecom products," said Serge Forest (News - Alert), vice president of marketing at Sangoma. "Our long time leadership in the development of LATA telephony protocols, and now the addition of Shopnetworks as a key distributor, position us very well for solid growth in Brazil."
Shopnetworks will complement product sales with training and support services, providing a single point of contact to solution vendors in Brazil.
Sangoma also announced the grant of stock options to certain employees and Directors of the Company which will go into effective May 19, 2009.
Options to purchase up to 500,000 common shares were granted to employees, Officers and Directors of the Corporation at an exercise price of $0.65 per share, being the closing price of the common shares as at the close of business on May 15, 2009. The options shall expire on May 19, 2014.
