At the recent VoIP2Day event in the Torre de Cristal in Madrid, Spain, Patton Electronics showcased its VoIP router and gateway products, including the SmartNode 10200 which can support from 1-2048 IP simultaneous calls. 

In fact, as reported in the popular online media outlet deNoticias the multinational VoIP equipment specialists, have targeted Spain as a significant growth market for their VoIP routers and gateways and the rest of their product portfolio which includes Ethernet extenders, and has leverage the VoIP2Day event in recent years to analyze market and channel opportunities.

According to Patton’s (News - Alert) head of southern Europe markets, Michel Balabio, Spanish distributors and integrators were impressed with the Patton products and prospects.  He noted that, "After the visits received, we can say that in the field of gateways, those seeking flexible and scalable products that meet current situations in business, but with a view future growth," gave Patton solutions high marks.

As noted, it was VoIP scalability in a single solutions that distributors, integrators and potential customers gravitated toward for use cases that cover small enterprises all the way up to large ones with big call centers and also service providers.  As Balabio observed, "During VoIP2Day, the Patton product that attracted most attention was the SmartNode 10200, which is the solution of higher density in our catalog, and in its basic version reaches 512 calls simultaneous VoIP, but its capacity can be scaled up to 2,048. "

While scalability was a big attraction, the ability of Patton to function easily with legacy systems and protocols, enabling a smooth migration from TDM to ultimately all IP-based communications, was another capability that drew attention.  "Something we've seen that is especially appreciated in Spain is SS7 support, the ability to leverage existing networks to reduce the costs of transition to VoIP and free technical support Patton sets us apart from the rest of the competition," Balabio explained. 

As seen with the recent addition of channel partners in Central and Eastern Europe, despite economic uncertainty in Europe, Patton sees opportunities, especially since the installed base of TDM systems is substantial in this part of the world and is also extremely old in many cases. Indeed, it is why the Spanish market is one such promise and why Patton is eager to expand its presence there.
