The VoIP revolution has changed business communication so much that it could be compared to the Internet itself. There are so many choices for VoIP gateways that it’s hard for businesses to make the right choice. Patton Electronics has attempted to cut through the confusion with its sponsorship of VoIP Supply’s “Guide to VoIP Gateways.”
“With so many different communications networks and types of voice traffic in use, thankfully we have Patton (News - Alert) Gateways that make it simple to connect to anyone in the world and this new guide will show you how they work,” VoIP Supply CEO Ben Sayers said.
VoIP Supply, as the name suggests, is a company that supplies VoIP hardware and software, ranging from headsets to phones to, of course, VoIP gateways.
The guide is a free download and touts real-life examples of VoIP gateways in action, explains common gateway features, and buying instructions.
VoIP gateways are rapidly replacing traditional PBX (News - Alert) systems due to their lower cost and greater flexibility. The gateways can connect an existing VoIP system to the outside phone network, as well as connect a PBX to a VoIP system. This allows organizations with significant investment in a PBX to take advantage of some the features that VoIP affords, such as using advanced VoIP handsets and transferring calls to mobile devices.
With an emerging technology like VoIP, it’s important for a business to make the right purchasing decisions. VoIP Supply and Patton Electronics hope that using their guide, clients will select the right hardware and avoid returns. Patton also hopes that prospective customers will select its own VoIP hardware, hence its sponsorship of the guide.
While a guide sponsored by a major manufacturer can’t be completely unbiased, the growth of VoIP shows that there will always be some need of a guide for the perplexed as more and more organizations deploy VoIP.
