SmartRG Announces Launch of SR550n Broadband Residential Gateway
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
SmartRG has announced the launch of the SR550n Broadband Residential Gateway (News - Alert), a product in the company’s DoubleNickel family. The SR550n integrates VDSL2 and ADSL2+ technology and ITU-T standards-compliant loop bonding technology to offer Internet services in the capacity of 100Mbps and more over a bonded xDSL connection.
Jeff McInnis, SmartRG president and CEO said, “Service Providers have been anxiously waiting for a next-generation platform that combines xDSL bonding with vectoring and physical layer retransmission, to deliver on their plans for pushing more bandwidth and services into homes and businesses. That wait is over. With the general availability of the SR550n, SmartRG continues to forge a path of innovation and excellence in design and customer responsiveness.”
Bonded xDSL supports the integration of multiple xDSL lines into a single connection despite each line supporting different data speeds. The DoubleNickel SR550n would enable a platform to achieve downstream data speeds of up to 200 Mbps over bonded xDSL line. The SR550n also eliminates the existence of Wi-Fi ‘dead spots’ with its high-power (950 MW) 802.11n Access Point (News - Alert).
David La Cagnina, vice president of Product Development at SmartRG said, “Wi-Fi is no longer just a nice-to-have feature in a Residential Gateway. With the proliferation of mobile computing devices, Wi-Fi is now a critical factor to any home or business. Our Service Provider customers tell us one of their biggest customer support challenges is in supporting Wi-Fi services, due in large part, to lack of signal throughout their customers’ home or place of business. The DoubleNickel SR550n attacks this challenge head-on, by integrating high-power amplifiers with intelligent antenna design and selecting only the highest-quality components, which deliver excellent receiver sensitivity, ensuring signals from distant, battery-operated Wi-Fi clients are received and connectivity is assured.”
SmartRG integrates broadband access technologies with user-customizable software to offer a best in class solution for managing home network connectivity and automation.
