Mexico based SJ Technologies, a value-added reseller of U.S. based Patton Electronics and its distribution partner in Mexico, recently showcased Patton’s (News - Alert) full line of SmartNode VoIP Gateways and Routers at the ElastixWorld 2013, which was held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City.
Calling the event a “wonderful opportunity,” Antonio Torre, country manager for Mexico at Patton, said that it strengthened the bond as the company continues to build and broaden the Elastix (News - Alert) community.
Integrating IP and time division multiplexing (TDM) communications for enterprise and career access networks, SmartNode offers voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) gateways combined with IP access routing, WAN transmission, and VoIP border router functionality. It scales from 1 to 2,048 VoIP or fax calls, with various telephony interfaces such as analog FXS/FXO and digital ISDN BRI, PRI, DS3 and STM-1. In addition, SmartNode contains a built-in IP Router option with QoS and transcoding as well as network security with ACLs, IPSec VPN and B2BUA.
To the Elaxtix community, SmartNode provides the advantages of reliable VoIP-gateway solutions, which lay the secure foundation for companies to build their networks on, noted Patton. In fact, Patton’s SmartNode VoIP equipment has been certified for the interoperability with the Elastix open-source software phone system which incorporates all the communication features required by enterprises.
The attraction here is that with SmartNode, Elastix resellers and their enterprise customers have a set of options for smoothly transitioning to VoIP. This includes the ability to interoperate with third-party IP equipment and session initiation protocol (SIP) service providers.
It also is important since IP-enablement in this manner helps preserve investment in working legacy equipment -- fax, phones, PBX (News - Alert), paging equipment, and more. In fact, the POTS line integration scenarios include maintain existing Telco service for survivability/fallback during Internet outages, and deploying in-house SIP telephony, with PSTN access while completing a Telco service contract.
At the ITExpo in February, 2011, Patton and Elastix announced the mutually-certified unified communications (UC) solution to provide Elastix developers and integrators, system enhancements such as local and remote-office survivability for business continuity, SIP trunking, and more.
