Waterfall Unidirectional Security Gateways Receive EAL4+ Certification
Common Criteria has certified Waterfall Security Solutions’ Unidirectional Security Gateway (News In a release, Lior Frenkel, CEO and co-founder of Waterfall, said, "The EAL 4+ certification is additional recognition of Waterfall's commitment to leadership in the industrial security marketplace. Waterfall's unidirectional security technology was the first to be assessed by the SCADA Security experts at Idaho National Labs, was recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) with a Best Practice award for Industrial Network Security, and is the subject of other international and regional security and quality certifications." Customers are guaranteed regarding the sturdiness of a security product with the EAL 4+ certification. The certification also guarantees the customers regarding methodical definition, testing and verification of the product. The EAL 4+ certification implies that the product can be protected against a high-level attack. Opponents, who have considerable time, information, proficiency and hardware/software resources, will also not be able to hack into the technology. Important information associated with the business can move from the industrial control systems into business systems with the certified Waterfall technology. This technology also prevents the information to move back into the secure industrial network. The flow of all information, especially the malware which moves across the network along with the known remote-control attacks by supposed "sophisticated persistent threats", back into the protected network is also prevented by the technology. Andrew Ginter, director, Industrial Security at Waterfall, said, "Strong network perimeter protection is essential to the safety and security of our critical industrial infrastructures. The 'air gaps' which historically protected control networks have largely been replaced by much-weaker firewall technology. Unidirectional Security Gateways allow business-critical information to flow out of a control network, without introducing the vulnerabilities which firewalls introduce. With this certification, Waterfall customers can be even more confident in our technology as part of their industrial cyber security program."
