High Standard VoIP Gateways Provide Quality Convergence for Norbert Dentressangle
Intra-office communications should not be a challenging or time wasting activity. But, if routing calls internally leads to excessive charges and loss in productivity, it’s time for a change. As business was growing, the company needed to look for an alternative. The company knew it was time to converge the voice and data networks as they wanted to leverage the features and functions of enhanced IP-based communications that could help boost productivity and streamline communication costs. They knew the potential in VoIP communications; they just needed the VoIP routers and VoIP gateways to get the job done. Alessio Miranda is the Project Manager at TECHLAN Reti Srl – the system integrator for Norbert. Miranda set out the make the most of the private MPLS/IP network already in place to allow interoffice voice traffic to bypass the PSTN and eliminate the associate toll cutting into the company’s communications budget. With the installation of VoIP gateways at each office location, corporate traffic is packetized and then routed over the same private network as the corporate data traffic. To get the job done, Miranda connected with Michael Balabio, Director of Patton’s Operations for Southern Europe. The company was able to leverage the SmartNode VoIP products from Patton to drive the convergence needed. According to Stefano Campi, CEO for TECHLAN Reti, “Patton equipment delivers absolute reliability in all our converged-IP projects. We install SmartNode VoIP solutions with utmost confidence that voice services will be securely managed and optimized.” Extending this value to Norbert only made logical sense. The SmartNode VoIP gateways enabled the Norbert branch offices to make use of the IP network to deliver phone services at low cost and high availability. Plus, any analog handsets that were already in place were able to access the features provided in the CLIP 5500 iPBX, eliminating the need for all new equipment. To optimize on this deployment, the selected solution had to scale from 2 to 120 VoIP calls and offer models to provide every standard telephony interface imaginable. Patton VoIP gateways and VoIP routers, combined with SmartNode, allowed Norbert to enjoy powerful and flexible IP routing. Patton also ensured tight performance during deployment through the provision of its high-precision clock to avoid the breakage in the whole system that can easily be caused by course clocking in VoIP gateways. This provided the necessary peace of mind to ensure the project was completed smoothly, with no loss in service. Norbert Dentressangle now enjoys seamless and low-cost communications between all locations with a converged data and voice network. Additional sites are in the planning stage and according to Miranda, only Patton VoIP gateways will be used. Edited by Juliana Kenny TAKE ACTION...Click Here
