Squire Technologies’ Media Gateway (News - Alert) Controller (MGC) is now used in 50 countries across the world following the latest deployment of its Cisco compatible tool for Telemach, in Slovenia.
Squire Technologies provides SS7 and VoIP solutions to the telecoms industry and Telemach is a part of the Mid Europa Partners, a fund which amongst others owns Serbian telecommunications company SBB.
Telemach decided to expand its network and wanted to establish interconnects with its existing Cisco (News - Alert) based infrastructure. Also, Telemach wanted to maintain the network’s dual redundant capabilities.
The company turned towards Squire because it already has a longstanding relationship with SBB. Squire had installed the MGC for SBB subsidiaries in Serbia in 2009 and a new installation at Bosnia is due later in 2012.
“Being the leading alternative provider of telephone service in Slovenia meant that we needed to be sure of the reliability of the service, whilst we also wanted to continue using our existing Cisco equipment as we moved into the VoIP market,” said Marko Miletic, group director for Voice Services, Squire Technologies. “We found that the SVI-MGC of Squire was the most cost effective and crucially, an easy to implement solution.”
The SVI-MGC of Squire enables legacy third party media gateways such as those from Cisco, AudioCodes (News - Alert) and Alcatel-Lucent, to be used in networks which feature VoIP.
The Gateway has achieved very high sales figures, which is attributed to its compatibility along with industry developments such as Cisco announcing the end of life of their PGW series.
“We are happy that Telemach was able to meet their needs with our Media Gateway Controller, particularly in terms of enabling SS7 over their existing Cisco Media Gateways,” said Sanjeev Verma (News - Alert), Squire Technologies’ sales director. “ The most satisfying element for us has been our ongoing relationship with SBB and Telemach, as we’ve been privileged to play a key role in working with them to develop their telephony network over the past few years.”
Squire Technologies was in news earlier this month for reporting that its Media Gateway Controller is seeing traction among service providers.
