As the communication solutions arena becomes increasingly competitive with new suppliers and manufacturers issuing faster, smarter products on a weekly basis, it is becoming increasingly challenging to sift through the solutions to find out which is the cream of the crop. Fortunately, INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine makes this task a bit simpler with its annual Product of the Year Awards.

The 2011 list for such achievements was recently released, and solidifies the group of providers that have been true innovators over the past year. As constant observers and investigators of the technological world, TMC’s (News - Alert) editors narrowed down the list of selected companies that best demonstrated the vision, leadership, and thoroughness required to make the Product of the Year Award roster. This year, among those leaders was Patton (News - Alert), a world-renowned provider of Ethernet extender solutions, VoIP Gateways, and VoIP Router products.

Patton’s SmartNode 4120 ISDN BRI PSTN Gateway (News - Alert) earned a place on the Product of the Year Award list for its innovative design and applicable benefits. Allowing users to make up to four simultaneous SIP or T.38 calls with comprehensive signaling and protocol support as well as proven interoperability, the SmartNode continues to be a crowd-pleaser in the VoIP space…So much of a crowd-pleaser that different versions of the SmartNode product have been issued Product of the Year Awards annually since 2005. 

With built-in Web-based management, SNMP, command line interface, and auto-provisioning, the SmartNode 4120 ensures seamless integration with existing infrastructures as well as complex number manipulation and mapping.

The award was not the only happy news from Patton recently either as the company has made important strides to integrate its SmartNode VoIP equipment with other leading communication solutions. In late 2011, Patton and PaloSanto, a leader in open source innovation in Latin America, teamed up to reveal a built-in system management tool that fully integreates Patton’s SmartNode VoIP equipment with Elastix unified communications solutions.
