Apptix, a provider of hosted business communication, collaboration, and IT solutions, has launched the Apptix Policy Based Encryption Gateway (News - Alert).

Officials with Apptix claimed that an add-on to the company’s hosted Exchange e-mail solution, the gateway helps businesses protect themselves from the financial loss, damaged reputation, and regulatory action associated with unsecured communications.

According to company officials, Apptix (News - Alert) Policy Based Encryption Gateway enables organizations to establish and automatically enforce customized corporate security policies. Following these corporate policies, the Gateway scans all outbound email messages, subject lines, and attachments for confidential content and automatically encrypts and sends the emails.

Company officials said that the Policy Based Encryption Gateway allows all email, whether from a desktop via Outlook, through a web browser with Outlook Web App (OWA), or a mobile device, to be encrypted to the recipient – keeping employees connected securely, anywhere.

“The Encryption Gateway is a corporate-class tool for protecting intellectual property and staying compliant with privacy and security regulations,” said Mike Lamb, product development, Apptix, in a statement.

Lamb said that businesses are able to customize their own rules for communications and then focus on other projects while the gateway enforces those rules and automatically secures their sensitive data.

The Encryption Gateway is just the latest addition to Apptix’s comprehensive portfolio of compliance and security solutions tailored to fit the most stringent communication and collaboration regulatory requirements. 

In a parallel announcement today at elastixWorld, PaloSanto, a Latin American leader in open source innovation revealed a built-in system management tool that fully integrates SmartNode VoIP equipment with Elastix unified communications solutions in conjunction with Patton, a leading provider of business and carrier-class network access, connectivity, VoIP and mobile video-surveillance equipment.
