Infonetics Research Shows VoIP Gateways Market Struggling
The VoIP gateway market is waning, according to Infonetics (News - Alert) Research. The market research firm recently released its first quarter 2011 Enterprise Unified Communication, VoIP and TDM Equipment report focused on preliminary market share results. The research was led by VoIP and IMS analyst Diane Myers. Myers shared in a statement, "The global PBX (News - Alert) market is typically down in the first quarter following a strong fourth quarter, and 1Q11 was no exception as the overall market dipped 2.6 percent, dragged down by slowing TDM PBX sales as businesses continue to shift to IP. The good news is the quarter was up 8.5 percent over the year-ago quarter (1Q10), signaling a return to stability.” According to the preliminary report, the enterprise telephony and unified communications (UC) equipment market, which is made up of VoIP gateways, TDM PBX, KTS, IP PBX systems, IP phones, and UC applications, totaled $2.52 billion in the first quarter of 2011, which was down 4 percent from the fourth quarter in 2010.
