Amy Cravens, market analyst, considers mobile VoIP as a recent occurrence in the business environment and added that one of the key benefits of mobile VoIP for enterprises was extending desk phone functionality to mobile devices.

She also said that business-oriented solutions would essentially enable the users' cell phones to become an extension of their desk phones and would deliver, in addition to voice, a unified communications experience, including e-mail, IM, and collaboration.

Research findings indicated that mobile VoIP users would increase tenfold over the next five years and mobile operators, though currently a barrier to adoption of mobile VoIP, could play a greater role in its adoption over the next several years.

As business mobile VoIP was based on IP PBX and hosted PBX solutions, growth in IP PBX mobile VoIP usage would be driven by mid-sized enterprise businesses.
