VoIP Enabler Optimizes Communication for Law Firm

Technology advancements over the last several years have been designed to enable businesses to enhance their operations and lower their overall costs. This is especially true where communications are concerned. The challenge is that in some cases, advancements have led to increased complexities and complications.


In fact, according to Phybridge (News - Alert), the data switch industry had a reputation for layering real-time voice onto a distributed data LAN designed for the delivery of voice in near-time. In doing so, this process underestimated the complexities and challenges that it created for partners and customers. Many operating in this space are not interested in changing the methodology as there are significant advantages to selling IP telephony offerings as LAN changes are required.

VoIP enabler provider, Phybridge, takes a slightly different approach to the market. The company  is serious about putting the customer first, believing its technology must not only be good for the customer, but also for those who serve the customer. In a recent win, the company worked with a law firm to move over 500 users to IP telephony using the UniPhyer VoIP enabler.

Prior to this move, the law firm had been operating in an environment where every desk had two cables – a data cable and a voice cable. The physical wiring in each cable is basically the same – 24 gauge wire. The only real difference was the number of twists per inch as the higher number of twists, the higher the bandwidth the cable can handle.

Phybridge’s approach to its VoIP enabler technology ensures that clients enjoy voice with data, instead of voice on data. In voice with data environments, the infrastructure is designed specifically to deliver real-time voice. The point-to-point topology offers a dedicated path from the central closet along to the end point and no other device shares the bandwidth. In addition, voice packets travel in order and on time, allowing for no loss of contention.

When voice is provided on data, it is designed to deliver data information in near-time; multiple devices share the bandwidth as it is a distributed topology and closet infrastructure; and packets disassemble and reassemble, creating a higher probability that quality issues will occur and more complex management is required.

The VoIP enabler environment that focuses on voice with data ensures that point-to-point topology is supported and IP phones can quickly be deployed, guaranteeing no disruption and optimal quality of service. Plus, this infrastructure can generate a 70 percent savings in LAN total cost of ownership, as well as 80 percent savings in planning and deployment time. As a result, customers can allocate more of their budget to applications that enhance the business.
