Compunetix Completes Testing with BroadWorks VoIP App Server

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Compunetix (News - Alert), a collaboration tools seller, has completed interoperability testing of its Contex Summit with BroadWorks a VoIP application server by BroadSoft (News - Alert).

This interoperability, Compunetix officials say, "Assures plug and play capabilities for telecommunication service providers interested in integrating the Summit with its existing BroadSoft services."

Gerard Pompa, senior vice president and division manager of the Compunetix communications systems division, says “the vendor put our hardware through interoperability testing to assure that our customers have the quality of service regardless of the network and environment. Voice quality is paramount to us."

Chiming in on the company’s products, Benjamin Krokosky, director of software engineering at Compunetix said, “Compunetix products work within IMS environments and our interoperability status proves that the scalability, voice quality, and overall reliability inherent in our systems remain intact regardless of the VoIP infrastructure."

The Contex Summit is a media processor in the multipoint collaboration industry, combining what company officials say is "the quality, reliability, and feature richness of traditional tools with the flexibility and cost effectiveness of IP-centric communication." It features scalability, open-system APIs for development and complementary software and control applications.

Recently, TMC's (News - Alert) Anuradha Shukla wrote that Compunetix announced a KPN (News - Alert) added VoIP to its Contex Summit-based public service conferencing offer. KPN uses Contex Summit collaboration media processors with both VoIP and PSTN calls on the same system without the use of external gateways.

Voice calls maintain the reliability and quality of service that has become a benchmark in the industry, regardless of whether a call is VoIP or ISDN, Compunetix officials said at the time, adding that the Compunetix VoIP passed the certification testing with the Ericsson (News - Alert) VoIP Connect SIP trunking interface, "a testament to Summit interoperability and versatility."

The VoIP launch marks a milestone for KPN as they expand their service offering and more efficiently manage operations. KPN uses Compunetix Contex Summits for reservation less and event conferencing services.
