Aculab (News - Alert), a provider of enabling technology for the communications market, has announced that Dolphin Software selected the ApplianX IP
Gateway (News - Alert) for deployment with its Contact Distribution System and HotVoice software.
Along with extending the life of existing TDM-based equipment, the design of ApplianX IP Gateway also takes advantage of new IP-based services and endpoints by being a single purpose, “plug & play” network appliance.
Company officials said that the ability to support 1, 2, 4 or 8 E1/T1
trunks makes the ApplianX IP Gateway, based on Aculab’s Prosody-X technology, a “good fit” for a range of deployment scenarios in both enterprise and service provider networks.
Haakon Smeby, CEO at Dolphin Software said that his company had been looking for an IP gateway solution that could be installed and configured in minutes and could connect to the various switches managed by customer and prospect base.
“The ApplianX IP Gateway met both of these challenges and we’re confident our customers will also see the benefits,” he added.
An IP-based platform, Dolphin Contact Distribution System (CDS), incorporates HotVoice, an IP IVR
“software-only” platform that is based on Aculab’s Prosody S host media processing software.
ApplianX IP Gateway, which will allow incoming calls to be routed to HotVoice, can be deployed by companies with an all IP infrastructure, the ones requiring connection to the PSTN
or those who want to leverage investment made in their existing TDM-based communications infrastructure.
The Web-based management interface, ApplianX IP Gateway, officials said, supports over 85 protocols including Q.SIG and DPNSS and in addition a number of national variants, and requires completion of a five step process to start accepting calls.
“Dolphin is a respected player in Scandinavia’s contact centre market, so we are very pleased that the ApplianX IP Gateway will now be supporting its leading IP products” said Faye McClenahan, head of strategic marketing at Aculab.
