Altivon Employee Wins 'Rocker' Trophy During Interactive Intelligence's First Annual 'Battle of the Bands' Contest

By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet

VoIP contact center solutions provider Interactive Intelligence held its annual Partner Conference at the downtown Marriott in Indianapolis earlier this month.

Attracting about 500 people, the event was reportedly filled with an impressive range of informative sessions, demonstrations and keynotes – but also a lot of “fun” events, including dinners, jazz and blues music at the Slippery Noodle, and lots of giveaways at the vendor fair.

But one of the most successful events took place at the annual awards dinner held Tuesday, Oct. 6, when the company presented its first annual “Battle of the Bands” contest.

The contest allows any band consisting of any combination of Interactive Intelligence (News - Alert) partners, consultants, analysts and employees who write their own songs to compete for the coveted "Rocker" trophy. Each band played one song for their chance to win.

Six bands competed for the title, but at the end of the competition, it was clear who the winner of the “Rocker” trophy wasgoing to be: Nick Van Peursem, an employee with systems integrator Altivon won the crowd over with his creative song “Call Altivon Mon.”

Van Peursem’s one-man act had the crowd in stitches as he strummed acoustic guitar and sang about a customer service experience gone awry (in a similar style to Adam Sandler) – as well as the benefits of a well-implemented all-in-one contact center solution.

Altivon is an IP-based communications solutions provider specializing in enhancing the customer experience. The company became an Interactive Intelligence partner in 1996 and has attended the annual partner conference ever since.

“I have really come to appreciate the need for contact center technology,” Van Peursem said in a release. “Contact center managers want to improve their service, and properly implemented and managed technology can help them. Altivon delivers this value-add.”

“The customer experience is critical to contact center success,” said Bruce Andersen, Altivon president, in the release. “Our entry in the ‘Battle of the Bands’ describes an all-too-common customer experience and certainly hit home for the judging audience.”

Van Peursem’s father, Bob Van Peursem, is marketing vice president with Altivon and has been with the company since 1989.

“As a system integration partner for Interactive Intelligence, we deliver all-in-one solutions that suit each client’s particular needs,” Bob Van Peursem said. “We help contact centers support skills-based call routing, call recording, remote agents, workforce optimization and more.”
