Last week we explored SIP Print’s (News - Alert) exciting move into the government arena with its recent GSA approval contract and its contract with the U.S. government to do business with federal agencies in need of VoIP call recording. Recently, Don Palmer (News - Alert), CEO of the company, gave me a rundown of some of the finer details regarding SIP Print’s graduation to this vertical.
The company has recently been put onto the GSA (News - Alert) Advantage – the pricing catalogue of the government- in addition to the E-Buy schedule.
E-Buy is more of a “members only” schedule that gives SIP Print access to RFQ’s it would otherwise not see, giving it an advantage when it comes to exploring business opportunities.
SIP Print has worked with GSA Applications, a third-party arm that helps companies get GSA approval, and GSA Applications is going to administer the GSA E-Buy for SIP Print.
With the help of GSA Applications, Palmer was able to process the nitty gritty elements of the approval process easily including the upload of SIP Print’s products and pricing (GSA number GS-35F-0172Y) into the GSA Advantage. GSA Applications also assists with the hunting down of RFQ’s that SIP Print would not normally have access to, bolstering its visibility in the government space.
Palmer is hoping for a “snowball” effect where one client will lead to the next and the next eventually helping SIP Print to gain a significant customer base in the government space.
“The government is like any business out there. They are changing constantly and upgrading all of their communications to be SIP-based, so they’re all going to SIP-based IP PBXs or to SIP-based communications, and our product fits in that genre perfectly,” said Palmer.
In a broader sense, SIP Print is looking to continue its practice of gaining the assistance of other organizations that may be experts in areas it is not. By leveraging the help of GSA Applications, SIP Print realized that it would gain more visibility in the government sector as it was brand new to the field.
