With the new year bringing innovative solutions and products from blossoming new companies in the call recording industries, the veterans of the field are developing equally as competitive products and services to maintain their leading positions. SIP Print (News - Alert), a renowned leader in the call recording industry for its affordable, customizable solutions, and Vital Communications, a Value Added Distributor have developed a business relationship over time that has solidified both companies’ roles at the forefront of the call recording scene. In an interview with the President of Vital Communications, Walter B. Maclay, I got some insight as to how exactly major players in the industry such as SIP Print and VitalComm match the new competition that crops up with new products. See the full exchange here:
JK: As a SIP Print Distributor, how does Vital Communications take stock of rising competition in the call recording space?
WM: As with any Great NEW Innovative Product there will be many companies trying to copy the product. However as with many NEW Innovations the companies who merely copy the innovations of others are late to the market and now have to attempt to catch up to manufacturers like SIP Print who have had two and a half years to get feedback from their customers and improve and refine their product. Many companies don’t realize that you can launch a product based on a great Idea but until you get it out in the marketplace you can’t fine tune it and refine it to be a successful product. SIP Print has worked with every major IP/PBX (News - Alert) Manufacturer to ensure reliable interoperability with their systems making it the #1 SIP Based Call recording platform on the market.
JK: What kinds of challenges do competitors in this field pose to Vital Communications?
WM: As NEW companies and products come into the marketplace and cause confusion amongst resellers and end users it will be a greater challenge for Vital Communications to educate and inform the dealers and end users as well assist them in making an informative and smart decision.
JK: How will Vital Communications approach the pending competition in 2011?
WM: We will continue to evaluate the NEW Competitors as they introduce their products into the marketplace. NEW Competitors will always come out with a NEW Feature in an attempt to persuade customers into overlooking the features and support they are missing. We will continue to provide feedback to SIP Print as to NEW features or enhancements that we feel should be included in their product(s). This will ensure SIP Print will continue to provide the very best solutions to the SMB marketplace.
JK: What does Vital predict to be unique about new companies and their products that compete with SIP Print?
WM: From what we have seen there isn’t much different about the NEW Products coming into the market which is common when the NEW Companies are not innovating they are basically just copying a great innovation.
JK: How have SIP Print and Vital reacted to rising competition in the past?
WM: For the most part we haven’t seem much competition with regards to VOIP/SIP Call Recording solutions. Many of the Companies that originally started copying the SIP Print Products have gone away either because they didn’t understand the market or because they were unable to build a sales/distribution channel. SIP Print has an established channel of resellers and distributors that are very happy with the SIP Print products and SIP Print as a company.
JK: Will 2011 be much different in that regard?
WM: Yes we expect that as the market for SIP Based Call Recording continues to grow more companies will sprout up and enter the market and some will probably become competitors however they will have to work hard and fast to catch up to SIP Print who still remains the market leader. It’s very similar to a recent mass market innovation called the iPad. It was a great idea and Apple (News - Alert) innovated it and took it to market and now after everyone has seen how successful it is there are 200+ companies making copies and they all have their own special feature that they hope will set them apart from the iPad however they will still have a hard time competing with the encumbant leader in the market. SIP Print remains the leading innovator in this market and Vital Communications will continue to be a leading Distributor of the SIP Print Products.
