RAD Data Sees Potential in Russian Pseudo-Wire Circuit Emulation Market

Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

RAD Data Communications, a specialist in solutions for legacy-over-packet switched networks, now is seeing increased potential in the Russian pseudo-wire circuit emulation market in Russia.

“Russian enterprises, utilities and government agencies, in particular, are demonstrating increasing interest in pseudo- wire solutions because they minimize maintenance and operating costs by running voice, data and video over IP/Ethernet-based networks,” said
Gregory Baranov, the company’s general manager of its Russian division, in a statement.

Baranov explained that pseudo-wire emulation is used to extend voice and data circuits over packet networks. The technology performs this task simply, transparently, and affordably.

“It is transparent to all protocols and signaling, and therefore supports legacy PBXs, including proprietary features,” Baranov said.

A few examples of recent pseudo-wire deployments in the Russian market using RAD Data solutions are listed below.

Company: Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Company
Products Used: Gmux-2000, IPmux-16, IPmux-14 and IPmux-11 gateways.
Purpose: To implement a powerful, centralized monitored hierarchical solution on different network layers.
Deployed By: TIC

Company: The South Electricity Plant
Products Used: Megaplex2100 multiplexers
Purpose: To deploy a hierarchical network topology.
Deployed By: Muvicom

Company: Samara Subway System
Products Used: Megaplex-2100 multiplexers
Purpose: To support the city’s subway security service system.

Baranov noted that these examples demonstrate the fact that “RAD's TDMoIP product line offers all the building blocks for all possible networking scenarios.”
