RAD Data Becomes Part of iDirect Technologies' IP Alliance

Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

Communications access equipment manufacturer RAD Data announced today that it has been admitted as an application partner into the IP Alliance, an industry community of network software and hardware manufacturers overseen by iDirect Technologies.

RAD Data said in a press release that its Vmuz-400 and Vmux-2100 gateways, which are interoperable with IP-over-satellite applications, helped the company earn a spot in the Alliance.

The Vmux-400 GSM optimization gateway improves network resource usage by enabling up to 3:1 bandwidth optimization, and making possible a 2:1 reduction in the number of E1 ports required.

The Vmux-2100 voice trunking gateway offers BSC-to-MSC and MSC-to-MSC/PSTN interface optimization, with compression rates up to 16:1.

In the press release, RAD Data noted that, when used together, the gateways “significantly reduce operating expenses (Opex) across the entire backhaul pathway while enabling cellular operators to expand their network infrastructure and introduce new services without incurring additional leased line costs.”
