VoiceXML Platform Offers Unparallel Advantages to Competitors

By Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor

There is some fierce competition in the telecom industry, and for businesses looking to implement a VoiceXML (News - Alert) system, choosing the one that best serves a company’s needs can be extremely difficult.

One communication solutions software company’s platform offers unparalleled advantages.

Interact Inc.’s VoiceXML system, the SPOT Media Platform, is designed to minimize the amount of application load and memory penalties companies often face. SPOT was designed for carriers and carrier-grade service providers that need to process hundreds of thousands of voice channels. SPOT is unique in that it supports hundreds of voice channels on a single high performance server, thus decreasing hardware costs.

According to Interact Vice President and Founder, Greg Gissler, the capability, scalability and fault tolerance of the system are what make the SPOT media platform so successful.

“The capability is that it supports the open standards for CCXML, VXML and MRCP and all of the major hardware providers for the telecom industry,” Gissler told TMCnet in a podcast interview. “That allows the user to create any kind of application that they need. There’s no limit to what they can do.”

In regards to scalability, Gissler said that a user can take the application and run it on one channel, or tens of thousands of channels.

The SPOT media platform, designed for fault tolerance, is also equipped with automatic failover so that it complies with individual user requests.

“Once you have a system designed, and up and running, SPOT has the reliability to keep on running, and provide the services that a user wants,” Gissler told TMCnet.
