Provider of software solutions EXTENSION has announced that it offers support for all versions of Cisco’s call processing systems.

Thanks to this announcement, Cisco (News - Alert) healthcare customers – single-practice physician as well as large Integrated Delivery Networks – can take full advantage of EXTENSION’s advanced clinical alerting solutions integrated with Cisco’s Unified Communication platform.

Company officials said that they are the only vendor that integrates with Cisco’s entire panel of call processing systems – Cisco’s UC500 for smaller healthcare organizations, CME for medium-sized facilities, and CUCM for enterprise hospital systems.

The company’s server-based clinical alerting and communication platform is capable of scaling any size healthcare facility, said company officials.

With EXTENSION enabled versions of Cisco's Communication Manager’s solutions, hospital systems large and small can use one alerting middleware platform to meet all of the integrated delivery needs including outlying physician office workflows and alerting, off-site lab and radiology office workflows, and much more.

Company officials said that the EXTENSION solution can be hosted remotely using virtualization software or at each location regardless of which Cisco solution is being utilized.

Since the company supports all of Cisco’s Communication Manager’s products, it can offer Cisco clients the ability to have alerting and messaging married with all of their facilities, including those not in the hospitals such as ancillary lab and radiology offices, as well as ambulatory physician offices, said Todd Plesko, CEO at EXTENSION.

Plesko said that this is very important as the trend is more and more hospital systems owning the full continuum of care in a community including these off-site services.

“Our solutions match that trend and allow a hospital system the flexibility to have one alerting and messaging solution to match all of their Cisco communication systems, large and small, in any environment,” Plesko said.

EXTENSION said it plans to continually develop solutions that integrate with Cisco technologies to provide joint customers with the most advanced clinical communication tools.

Recently, EXTENSION announced its clinical alerting and notification solutions are now integrated with Polycom wireless handset technology.
