Streamlining Telephony Interconnection with Voice Peering

As video, telephony and multimedia services move completely into the IP realm, service providers are discovering the necessity of peering to keep up with the demand for next-generation applications. Voice peering and other peer-to-peer arrangements are an important part of streamlining interconnections.

 
The benefits of peering become apparent once other alternatives are considered. One alternative is to manage and provision leased lines and IP-VPN connections on a one-off basis and partners. Provisioning, however, is typically expensive and does not scale easily.
 
Also, connections using IP-VPNs over the public Internet are inherently insecure and may provide unpredictable quality. When voice calls rely on the public Internet, and problems like packet loss or jitter occur, headaches inevitably ensure. Who is responsible for the problem? Who is in charge of failover? Lack of control makes provisioning a problematic means of supporting the type of reliability customers demand.
 
The Voice Peering Fabric, a peering ecosystem managed by Stealth Communications (News - Alert), provides the solution to such headaches. The Voice Peering Fabric network handles security, peer-to-peer routing and seamless failover. It’s a private, distributed network built on optical wavelengths.
