In response to a statement from the newly-formed Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau, ("PSHS") that affirms America’s need for a more efficient emergency communications system, Sonus Networks (News - Alert) is assisting network operators to fulfill the requirements with its next generation voice infrastructure.
In May of 2005, Sonus announced its E-911 services, allowing service providers to interconnect with Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) around the country, a critical need in the wake of an emergency. According to the company’s release, Sonus is also forging the next generation of IMS-ready applications, helping network operators to rapidly build and deploy a wide variety of new applications including warning and alert applications.
"Communications services play an invaluable role in the every day life of consumers, and in emergency situations in particular, having access to reliable voice network is critical," said Hassan Ahmed, chairman and CEO, Sonus Networks in a statment. "As a customer-centric organization, Sonus is deeply committed to helping network operators that have deployed Sonus solutions stay current with emerging policies and regulations that impact public safety."
Sonus' solutions, which are designed for 99.999 percent network availability, have been field-proven in some of the world's most advanced networks.
