Mosaic Telecom recently announced that it has become the first operator to deploy end-to-end femtocell solution from Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) which makes it possible for Mosaic Telecom subscribers to benefit from enhanced indoor 3G coverage and enjoy the advantages of high-speed data services and improved voice call quality. The company has deployed the femtocell across the Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum which functions in the 1710-1755 MHz and 2110-2155 MHz bands.

Femtocells (News - Alert) make it easy for operators to create targeted coverage and build capacity within specific locations which otherwise is a near impossible task with a macro network. Operators can benefit from standards-compliant femtocells as they allow them the freedom to choose from the various access point vendors available to them without having to worry about making any changes to the core network.

Nokia Siemens Networks has already implemented its end-to-end femto system based on its Femto Gateway (News - Alert) offering and management and provisioning systems. This is in addition to deploying femto access points that incorporate the Ubiquisys’ technology. By leveraging the complete end-to-end 3G femto solution, Mosaic will be able to extend and improve its rural coverage and ensure a much improved user experience for its subscriber base with the introduction of low-cost pricing structures specially designed to bring down monthly bills for its customers.
