By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor
Mosaic Telecom recently announced that it has become the first operator to deploy end-to-end femtocell solution from Nokia Siemens (News Femtocells (News - Alert) make it easy for operators to create targeted coverage and build capacity within specific locations which otherwise is a near impossible task with a macro network. Operators can benefit from standards-compliant femtocells as they allow them the freedom to choose from the various access point vendors available to them without having to worry about making any changes to the core network. “Femtocells will greatly reduce our capital and operating expenditures due to the reduced load on our macro network,” Rick Vergin, chief executive officer of Mosaic Telecom, said. “Enabling improved coverage and high-quality voice and data services in coverage-challenged households and enterprises, they are ideal for our predominantly rural presence. Nokia Siemens Networks’ (News - Alert) femtocell solution was a natural choice for us as we look to offer the best service to our customers.” Nokia Siemens Networks has already implemented its end-to-end femto system based on its Femto Gateway (News Timo Hyppola, head of the femto product line for Nokia Siemens Networks, said, “This pioneering deployment in AWS spectrum signals our increasingly strong momentum in the femtocell market. We are delighted to support Mosaic Telecom in enhancing their customers’ mobile experience.” Edited by Carrie Schmelkin View More Voice Management Channel Stories
