GIPS Signs Voice Conferencing Deal with Citrix

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

Global IP Solutions (GIPS), an innovative provider of IP multimedia processing solutions, and Citrix Online (News - Alert), a division of Citrix Systems, today announced that they have signed an OEM license and distribution agreement.

Under the terms of the new deal, GIPS will provide integrated VoIP and PSTN audio conferencing to Citrix’s GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar.

GIPS technology, a combination of VoIP, phone and Web conferencing that enables online meetings and Web events of all sizes, will enable Citrix to enhance its ability to provide simple, true one-click meetings.

"GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar make it possible for anyone with a PC or Mac to easily, securely and cost effectively collaborate, present information and demonstrate products at their desktop," said Bernd Oliver Christiansen, Citrix Online's vice president and chief technology officer. "We're pleased to have GIPS as our partner to help us deliver the highest quality audio experience to our GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar customers."

"With current economic conditions, there's an increasing demand for unified communications and collaboration capabilities, which help to offset travel expenses," said Emerick Woods, Global IP Solutions' (News - Alert) CEO.

According to Woods, Citrix provides the most user-friendly one-click Web meeting service available to meet the increasing market demand.

“We're delighted they selected GIPS Voice ConferenceEngine and VoiceEngine as the enabling technology for VoIP and PSTN audio conferencing, critical components in a high quality, real-time Web conferencing experience,” he added.

Citrix GoToMeeting and Citrix GoToWebinar include GIPS Voice ConferenceEngine and VoiceEngine to guarantee the best user experience possible. Based on GIPS' patented technology, GIPS Voice ConferenceEngine is robust software that controls all aspects of audio mixing and processing in a conference or collaboration environment.

GIPS' software manages audio processing issues that are expected on IP networks, such as delay, jitter, packet loss, background noise and echo. This ensures that users gain superior audio quality, even under unfavorable network conditions.
Last week, GIPS announced its plans to demonstrate its voice and video engines on IBM (News - Alert) Lotus Sametime, the popular unified communications (UC) and collaboration software, at Lotusphere 2009 in Orlando.

Joyce Kim, chief marketing officer at Global IP Solutions, explained, “GIPS technology provides the underlying voice and video processing necessary for crystal clear, high-quality communication on Lotus Sametime.”

More than 215,000 organizations worldwide depend on Citrix to deliver applications to users all over the globe with the best performance, highest security and lowest cost. Citrix customers include 100 percent of the Fortune 100 companies and 99 percent of the Fortune Global 500, as well as hundreds of thousands of small businesses. The company has approximately 8,000 partners in more than 100 countries.

San Francisco-based Global IP Solutions provides high quality voice and video processing in IP communications. The company’s technology enables its customers to deliver unrivaled quality, with a faster time-to-market and with less risk than competitors’ solutions. Some of GIPS’ customers include application developers, wired and wireless service providers and network and telecommunications equipment vendors. The companies it serves include Gadu-Gadu, Google, IBM, Mail.ru, LG Electronics, Movial (News - Alert), Nibuzz, Nortel, Oracle, Radvision, Samsung, Citrix, Yahoo!, Tencent, and other key players in the voice and video over IP markets.
