GIPS to Demo Voice and Video Using IBM UC Software

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

An innovator in voice and video processing for IP communications, Global IP Solutions (GIPS) today went public with its plans to showcase its voice and video engines on IBM (News - Alert) Lotus Sametime, the popular unified communications (UC) and collaboration software, at Lotusphere 2009 in Orlando, this week.

According to Joyce Kim, chief marketing officer at Global IP Solutions (News - Alert), “GIPS technology provides the underlying voice and video processing necessary for crystal clear, high-quality communication on Lotus Sametime.”

“Based on the significant time and travel costs enterprises can save by implementing collaboration tools such as Lotus Sametime, we will be demonstrating the advancements in voice and video capabilities we have delivered for customers that is consistently reliable and high quality to ensure the best possible user experience,” added Kim.

Frost & Sullivan Principal Analyst, Melanie Turek said that Lotus Sametime is a sophisticated and comprehensive UC platform.

"But customers want to know that their voice and video communications will be reliable and of extremely high quality. A third-party call-processing vendor like GIPS can deliver that confidence and performance,” explained Turek.

GIPS will be demonstrating its voice and video processing solutions at the Lotusphere event in Booth #417.

The company recently signed an agreement with Skuku, an international communications company specializing in network-based telephony solutions. Under the terms of the agreement, Skuku will use GIPS' technology to power its softclient stack.

Thanks to this new deal, Skuku believes it will significantly improve and enhance the quality of voice transmission in an IP environment. Every phone call placed using Skuku’s innovative solutions will enable a PSTN-like experience.

“We are excited about the partnership that we have established with Skuku and are very impressed with their unique roaming platform,” said Kim. “Combining our services with Skuku’s technology is a winning combination for users and we look forward to a long and productive relationship with Skuku.”

With voice and video processing solutions from GIPS, users gain unmatched quality, with a faster time-to-market and with less risk than alternative solutions. GIPS serves application developers, wired and wireless service providers and network and telecommunications equipment vendors.

Some of its clients include Nortel, Oracle (News - Alert), Samsung, WebEx, Yahoo!, AOL and other key players in the voice and video over IP markets. The company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Stockholm, Boston and Hong Kong.
