From SMB to enterprise, the way we communicate is changing. Welcome the omnichannel world, where business is done over instant messaging and applications are moving in a distinctly cloud-based direction. Communications providers are challenged to create complete offerings capable of supporting the growing demands of the digital age, with merger or acquisitions being popular solutions.

Messaging firm Kalerya announced intentions to purchase Hook Mobile, an American cloud communications company. Kalerya already touts a robust portfolio of global messaging services implored by banks and enterprises around the globe, now adds an innovative CPaaS platform its arsenal.

“This transaction is a step forward in our aspiration to go global. Hook Mobile is a very innovative company with expertise in Virtual Local Number services. With Hook Mobile’s offerings added to our portfolio, Kaleyra will now be active in the US and LATAM markets, which have very specific requirements and a strategic focus for Kaleyra Group” noted Dario Calogero, CEO at Kaleyra.

Kalerya instantly augments market presence in Europe, Asia as well as the Americas, and can build off a rich client roster of financial institutions and enterprises. Already supporting some 3 billion monthly messages, the acquisition bolsters the Kalerya portfolio with a joint service set including instant messaging, chatbots, voice email, messaging and push notification services.

Terry Hsiao, Chairman at Hook Mobile, exclaimed, “This acquisition enables us to vastly enhance our service capabilities in the areas of banking and a multitude of specific enterprise-based solutions while enabling us to speed up our roll out of virtual local number services worldwide.”

Consolidation is sign of the cloud communications landscape, and should continue in similar fashion for some time to come.
