There’s nothing quite like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to hearken back to my youth. Certain combinations are meant to be. For Forrest Gump, it was peas and carrots, but for UCaaS and cloud communications, the perfect partner is SD-WAN.

Vonage (News - Alert), one of the early players in the SD-WAN space with its SmartWAN back in 2015, is now available to small and medium-sized businesses using the Vonage Business Cloud. The SmartWAN offers constant monitoring and routing of traffic to optimize UcaaS performance.

It’s all about Quality of Service (QoS), as SmartWAN streamlines the cloud communications system in order to offer improved performance, as well as efficient network operations.

Two points of note regarding the SmartWAN solution. First, it is equipped with Blackout/Brownout protection, real-time and seamless failover as well as smart congestion prevention. Additionally, SmartWAN provides a tool to differentiate traffic in order to increase quality of external communications as well as enhance internal collaboration.

“Extending SD-WAN to over-the-top cloud communications deployments allows Vonage to deliver compelling service performance benefits to SMBs, branch offices and other business sites that choose more cost-effective public broadband connections versus dedicated private lines,” Popova added.

Let’s face it; communications are heading in a distinctly cloud driven direction. And, from a QoS perspective, SD-WAN is a sure fire way to deliver on expectations.
