A recent Nemertes Research, “Achieving Agility with Cloud UC,” established that businesses are employing cloud more than ever for their communications and collaborative needs. It serves the businesses in the sense that it allows for employees to not have to be in-house with a creation of more universal yet remote staff. No longer will employers have to overlook good hires due to location.

Unified Communications (News - Alert) as a Service (UCaaS) looks to aid businesses when it comes to the epitome of features, performance, and so much more. When it comes to changing the WAN structure as cloud begins to take over, there are three options to help optimize the switch. The first is Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN), which looks to reduce costs while optimizing cloud-based traffic flows. Secondly, there is a direct cloud connection goes beyond the Internet and links the WAN directly to the cloud’s edge. Finally, there is WAN-Cloud Exchanges (WAN-CX) where enterprises connect to an exchange then info is fueled up through the cloud.

These options offer higher quality app service while, again, keeping rates down; budgeting is a big part of business. Businesses need to start looking deeper into what cloud can continue to for them but on a larger scale. How can they optimize the flow of traffic? SD-WAN is one of the best options out there while taking the time to go over what cloud connect offerings there are to “provide predictable performance, resiliency.” This last option can be achieved via UCaaS but also remember not to get locked into anything as the cloud world is constantly evolving and you will want always be on top and ahead of the game.
