The hyper digitization of the products and services we now consume, will, according to Gartner (News - Alert), be responsible for one quarter of the global gross domestic product by 2020. Whether it is individual consumers or large enterprises, the products and services being used today are entirely, or mostly digital. This includes communications, where VoIP has now become almost a standard for the vast majority of businesses around the world. The new partnership between Telnyx, provider of wholesale VoIP services, and Equinix (News - Alert), a global interconnection and data center company, has been formed to deploy an Interconnection Oriented Architecture (IOA) inside Equinix data centers to give Telnyx access to the European and Asian VoIP market.

An IOA can increase the network performance of a company by more than 60 percent. For a VoIP provider such as Telnyx, it translates to delivering more communications options to its customers at better price points and improved reliability and availability at all times.

The IOA is going to be deployed with the Equinix Performance Hub at the core in the Equinix London and Hong Kong International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers. This will give Telnyx access to the Asian and European markets by using the infrastructure in two of the biggest technological and financial hubs of the world.

Ian Reither, co-founder and COO, Telnyx, said, "The Equinix Interconnection Oriented Architecture strategy coupled with Telnyx's innovative Telephony Engine has improved the performance of our service by more than 60 percent. The benefits to our customers are clear: superior call quality, advanced features, fast setup, self-control and scalable service."

With an Interconnection Oriented Architecture, organizations can use the physical and virtual devices and services of their choice to directly and securely connect users to what they need. This includes being able to develop new distribution channels and leverage networks, clouds and partners to reach global markets. An IOA can solve performance, security and complexity issues by focusing on critical areas and identifying the root cause and symptoms to provide solutions by leveraging the IOA model.

The Equinix Performance Hub will give Telnyx the necessary infrastructure to address the communications needs of SMB's or large enterprises. By combining data centers, networking infrastructure, and cloud computing, the Performance Hub is able to improve application performance to deliver consistent quality of experience for the end user. In choosing Equinix, Telnyx now has access to nodes in key markets around the world, which would allow it to optimize the best route for its call sessions to the nearest infrastructure node. This will ensure higher quality IP communications no matter where the user makes the call from.

"Providing high quality and feature-rich VoIP solutions that scale globally requires connections to a deep ecosystem of voice and data networks. At Equinix, our goal is to provide the interconnections necessary to allow Telnyx, and all of our customers, to succeed in the digital economy," said Bill Long, vice president of interconnection solutions, Equinix.

The three existing Performance Hub deployments in Chicago, Washington D.C. and Silicon Valley Telnyx already has will be connected those in London and Hong Kong. So no matter where Telnyx is deployed, the distributed TE architecture can access major Tier-1 internet service providers (ISPs) and cloud service providers (CSPs).

Quality IP voice communications require the right infrastructure with a company that has multiple points of presence to reduce latency and jitter to deliver reliable voice services any time of day. With this partnership, Telnyx will have the infrastructure and the resources to ensure its VoIP services can be access by its global customer base.
