Based in Livingston, New Jersey, cloud-based phone company Phone (News - Alert).com is a huge contributor to the state’s status as a leading U.S. technology center. Since 2006, Phone.com has offered innovative and economical business and home phone services for entrepreneurs, home offices, small businesses and individuals.

The New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC) has recently appointed Ari Rabban, founder and CEO Phone.com (News - Alert), to its board of directors.  As a member of the NJTC board, Rabban will recruit new technology companies as members, to chair one of the NJTC board committees with Phone.com sponsoring or participating in one major NJTC event annually, and to serve as an ambassador for the NJTC outside the New Jersey area.

“The NJTC liked that Phone.com is a new venture, we’re innovating and, in our case, that we’re in the telecom space, which is an industry that is, of course, very important and very historic to New Jersey,” Rabban told TMCnet in an exclusive interview.

Founded in 1996, the NJTC represents New Jersey’s dominant technology sectors, providing access to capital, serving as an advocate in Washington, D.C., and Trenton reaffirming New Jersey's status as a top-tier destination state for technology. In its 15th year, the NJTC has shown growth with hundreds of technology company members of all sizes including life science/biotech, software, hardware and more. The companies work together to provide business support, networking opportunities, information, advocacy, and recognition of technology companies.

Phone.com’s Rabban has been continuously promoting the need for more new venture activity in New Jersey. Phone.com has been supporting several incubators and accelerators in the state as well as providing services to startups at no or little cost. So, the NJTC realizes this as an important step for the state to be taking and is there to help support new tech ventures.

“Joining the council is exciting to me personally, not only because of its key role to drive innovation, but also because the NJTC contributes to the growth of technology in the region," explained Rabban. "I am looking forward to assisting the NJTC by developing programs and strategic alliances that benefit the entire New Jersey technology community."

Monthly programs put on by the NJTC are geared toward innovation and one of Phone.com’s goals is to initiate more of these programs and improve the exposure of the already established ones. Phone.com’s main goal is to get New Jersey back to its leadership position in technology innovation. The company wants to help the NJTC work with other organizations in the state such as the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA), the colleges and universities in New Jersey and the emerging technology incubators and accelerators.

Additionally, Phone.com will be working with the private sector, VCs and large technology companies to help build up the ecosystem that brings technology innovation to the state for college graduates and entrepreneurs who do not have support from Silicon Valley or Silicon Alley. It will also be looking to empower experienced executives looking at new business creation.

“We hold much esteem for startup companies and are happy to have Ari bringing the entrepreneurial spirit to the NJTC,” NJTC President & CEO Maxine Ballen.

Rabban continued, “Our goal is to offer top-notch business phone services to a market that is vastly under served: the SOHO market, the sole proprietor and other businesses with under 10 employees. We also work with startups and new businesses to help them develop their optimized solutions. So, this is a win-win for our company and for new business in the state.”
