ActiveBatch, a workload automation and job scheduling software developed by Advanced Systems Concepts, now provides more expanded integration with Microsoft (News - Alert) System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SC-VMM), the company announced on Monday.
By loading ActiveBatch with new support for SC-VMM, New Jersey-based Advanced Systems Concepts will enable IT organizations to advance their business operations through the facilitation of a wide variety of scheduled activity for provisioning virtual machines. The new SC-VMM job steps should allow companies to boost their efficiency, improve their service delivery and increase their resource availability – all while minimizing overall IT costs.
"If users had infinite resources, they wouldn't need to worry about virtual provisioning. But all businesses understand they have finite resources and are looking to leverage them accordingly," Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts, noted in a statement.
"Adding virtual provisioning to the start and end of the workflow process can result in a significant improvement in resource utilization by allocating resources as the workflow powers on, and giving them back when finished," he continued.
ActiveBatch's SC-VMM new job steps support Microsoft Virtual Server, Microsoft Hyper-V and other virtual machine systems, and are designed to provide an intuitive environment for workflow scheduling. The steps will also help facilitate a number of VMware-based provisioning and event commands as well as enable data center personnel to better utilize Microsoft's popular virtual server management tool.
As a cross-platform job scheduler and workload automation solution, ActiveBatch allows Advanced Systems Concepts' customers to centrally manage disparate jobs and workflows – ranging from those that involve operating systems, enterprise business applications and Web services. Enterprises in more than 40 countries currently use the software to optimize their resources and effectively expedite their IT workload automation process.
The new job steps are accessible within version 8 of ActiveBatch, which is currently available for licensing. The most updated version of the software and the new jobs steps are licensed separately. Enterprises that are taking part in the company's ActiveBatch Version Upgrade program will receive automatic software upgrades.
